Thank
you for visiting the Cherryland Humane Society's Animal Shelter
and Adoption, Education and Conference Center.
As
you can see, we take great pride in maintaining a clean, fresh-smelling,
disease-free environment for our homeless cats, kittens, dogs,
and puppies as they await placement into permanent, loving
homes. Should you notice anything requiring our attention,
please notify any of our employees immediately.
Potential
adopters are required to participate in an interview process
before adopting. During this interview, we will help you determine
the type of animal which will best suit your needs.
There
are occasions when the needs of a particular animal cannot
be met by interested adopters (e.g. work schedule, age of
children, living arrangement, etc.). In such cases, an adoption
may be denied. Denial is not a reflection of the prospective
adopter's ability to provide a good home for the animal, but
is simply based on our goal of finding a home where the animal's
individual needs and the needs of the adopter and the adopter's
family are compatible.
In
order to avoid being disappointed, if you are hoping to adopt
a dog or puppy, please refer to our canine
classification system. Answering just a few questions
about your particular situation will help you avoid choosing
an animal that is not well suited to you.
If
you cannot find the perfect animal at this time, please ask
our receptionist to enter your information into our computer.
You will be put on an adoption waiting list and we will contact
you when the type of pet you are hoping to adopt arrives at
our shelter. You may also check our online cat
and dog databases
daily for arrivals and updates.
Thank
you for supporting the Cherryland Humane Society and for sharing
our compassion for the many, many homeless cats, dogs, kittens
and puppies that pass through our doors and our hearts every
year.
